Triptych Videos Discussion
The newest Panels are the Triptych animation videos. These videos are presently located on Vimeo. On the first rock to be thoroughly photographed, these animations display one entire panoramic face. Many different photographs of this face produced most of the images in the Gallery. These video animations are the first to display one panorama of one side of this singular rock.
The entire rock face can be separated into three panels. The Left of the triptych, the Middle, and the Right side each display different themes. The right side of the Panel displays a macro-sized elemental face that contains fully the visible Right side. A chin, mouth-line, a prow-like nose and an eye at the top comprises the face. The furthest right edge appears to maintain the shape of a ship’s prow, this being the “nose” and under the nose is the chin. Under the nose, the thin straight line proceeding to the middle of the Panel is the mouth. The eye is clearly at the top center area of the Right-hand Panel. This comprises the basic surface structure definition of the Right-hand Panel.
Color-shifting becomes apparent in the animation videos. The Right-hand Panel displays many patterns in shifting color. The color-shift employs juxtaposition of multiple tints which allows edges to be displayed that show the complexity of the forms imbricated into the surface of the rock. One of the easiest characters to view on the Right-hand panel is the leftward-leaning figure at the center-left side of the Right-hand Panel. This figure is most clearly visible on a bright green-blue color version of the panel. This figure’s head (leaned left) is very close to the Middle Panel’s central figure. The Central Figure in the Middle Panel holds a scimitar-like weapon or curved staff. The right edge of the scimitar abuts the head of the character on the Right-hand Panel. The Right-hand panel also holds panoramic views along the focused entirety of the nose area. Pick a color that shows high detail and pause the video to view the non-flashing frame.
